The AES Corporation is a global power company. The Company owns and/or operates a generation portfolio of about 31,459 megawatts (MW), including generation from its integrated utility, AES Indiana. Its generation fleet is diversified by fuel type. It is organized into four market-oriented strategic business units (SBUs): US and Utilities (United States, Puerto Rico and El Salvador); South America (Chile, Colombia, Argentina and Brazil); MCAC (Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean); and Eurasia (Europe and Asia). It has two primary lines of business: generation and utilities. The generation line of business uses a range of fuels and technologies to generate electricity, such as coal, gas, hydro, wind, solar, and biomass. Its utilities business comprises businesses that transmit, distribute, and in certain circumstances, generate power. In addition, the Company has operations in the renewables area, which includes projects primarily in wind, solar, and energy storage.
