Driving a truck isn't a good career for most people.
I drove for 28 years yes the money can be there but it does take some luck and hard work to reach a good financial situation. Long term goals go medical. If you have family go medical, if you single and can save go cdl. But ultimately its what speaks to you the most
Gonna make more money long term with a cdl, take this for example. I went to school for 4 years just to become a surgical technician/xray technician. Both paid about the same over time. My buddy got his cdl about the same time I graduated and bro making over 100k a year has a house and few cars. I’m still paying off student loans. Single bedroom apartment. Gotta take it as. Are you wanting to make serious money or do something to “save life’s”. Healthcare and trucking are both equally super important jobs to have but one outweighs the other as far as income and come back. Gotta go with your heart.
Interesting choices. Medical school takes 7-10 years depending on the kind of medicine you want to practice, and is hundreds of thousands of dollars in tuition. CDL takes 1-2 years and requires an iron stomach and nerves of steel, depending on the route and time of year. Driving cross country or dedicated route in blizzard conditions isn't for everyone. Driving 9-10 hours a day isn't easy either. Large differences in pay, but both are necessary and have good job security. Medicine is a "calling". Long hours and lack of sleep for the first two years for both. Need to start earning right away...CDL.
I am retired.
