All 15 of the states on this list of the most affordable places to own a home have estimated monthly expenses under $2,000, with the cheapest being in Arkansas for $1,777 a month.
If you’re looking for the cheapest place to own a home in retirement, West Virginia would be a great destination as it ranks third on this list, and 21.9% of its population is age 65 or older.
Four states on this list, including North Dakota, Nebraska, Georgia and Minnesota, have estimated cost of living expenses over $40,000 a year.
