Several $100 bills

Paying off holiday bills can sometimes be a challenge. And then you might want to plan for a vacation in the new year as well. Everyone can use some extra money for both of those expenses.

Frugal living expert Austin Williams has some suggestions for how you can earn an extra $1,000 every month on the side.

In a YouTube video, Williams laid out just how easily you can pull in $1,000 per month with a little side hustle. Want to know his secrets? Continue reading for helpful suggestions to get you on your way.

“This first one is very near and dear to my heart,” Williams noted, adding that he has earned $6,000 per month from his YouTube channel.

“Creating free videos for you to watch, I’m making hundreds of dollars every day,” he added. Williams broke down how simple it is, explaining that to do well, you just need to create videos that appeal to a large audience, and create videos that keep people watching. Be entertaining, earn viewers’ trust and keep your audience interested.

“If you put in the work,” he said, “YouTube will reward you financially.”

Somewhat related to the world of YouTube, you can also make money via the video platform by providing video editing, or thumbnail design (creating eye-catching YouTube thumbnails that viewers can’t help but click on).

Williams suggested doing a bit of research online to learn what vintage items people are buying and selling. Then trawl your local flea markets for such items — you might find that a certain toy from the 1980s, which is only $5 at your local flea market or collector’s shop, is actually going for $25 on eBay. You can quickly turn a profit with a digital reselling store.

If you happen to be very proficient in English, you can always sign up to the website VIP Kids to teach English to children in China — as long as you have a Bachelor’s degree in any field and live in the United States or Canada. Unlike the first few hustles on this list, this one requires far less of an entrepreneurial spirit, Williams noted.

Williams pointed out that a great way to make extra money is via a website called Care.com. Essentially, it’s a platform that connects babysitters with parents who need babysitters. There are also options for elderly care and pet care.

Speaking of elderly care, Williams suggested offering your services to the elderly regarding things they can’t do, or don’t know how to do. Whether it’s tasks like heavy-duty physical work such as lawn care, or more on the technological side, like helping connect their Wi-Fi, helping the elderly for profit is a great way to make some extra cash on the side.

Finally, and perhaps most obviously, there is the option of a part-time job. As Williams noted, it can be extremely hard to make lots of cash with a side hustle. If you aren’t motivated or driven enough to make it work, it may just be easier for you to work as a barista for a few days a week with a set schedule. It might not be as cool as being a YouTube star, but it’s certainly an easy way to put money in your pocket.
