4 H&M Fall Clothing Staples That Are Low-Key High Quality

H&M is a leader in trendy and affordable fast fashion. With budget-friendly apparel and accessories for men, women and children, along with cosmetics, beauty supplies and homeware, it’s one of the country’s most popular stores when the seasons and styles change — and the proof is in its recently released Fall Shop.

Packed with reasonably priced clothing, jackets and accessories for cool weather, the autumn lineup is packed with H&M’s standard threads. However, those who dig a little deeper will find hidden gems that could easily come from high-end designers or luxury boutiques.

The following fall clothing staples come from H&M, which is synonymous with bargains, but are secretly among the higher-end apparel options that money can buy, even if they don’t come with designer labels — or price tags.

High-end cashmere is velvety soft, warm, durable, and luxurious, but it’s typically a get-what-you-pay-for purchase.

A Brunello Cucinelli cashmere sweater from Lord and Taylor will run you $1,920. A similar garment from The Row costs $2,567. If Prada is more your speed, expect to spend about $6,400.

That’s a whole lot of cash just to stay warm and cozy in high style on crisp fall days.

However, H&M’s Premium Selection line offers comparable-quality cashmere at a fraction of designer-brand prices. Most Premium Selection 100% fine-knit, brushed cashmere sweaters and other garments cost $200 or just over.

Wool coats are a fall staple because they’re timeless, versatile, stylish and, most importantly, warm. Designer options from labels like Prada can easily cost you $3,500 or more.

However, H&M’s Premium Selection line of wool coats is made from boutique-quality materials, including 100% RWS-certified wool, and not cheaper blends, as you’ll find in the standard H&M line.

However, instead of four-figure prices, H&M’s Premium Selection wool coats start at under $200 and top out in the low $400s.

H&M Adorables is a collection of first-rate childrenswear and accessories made from premium materials for newborns, babies and kids. They’re designed for durability, to be passed down through generations — and much of the collection was designed with fall in mind.

  • Newborns and babies: You’ll find everything from slipper-socks and room-to-grow leggings to jumpsuits and two-piece sets made from posh materials including knitted wool, waffled cotton and bubble-knit cotton. Prices start at $12.99 for hats, shirts and leggings and run up to $45 for two- and three-piece cotton sets.

  • Kids 2-8: Similar premium materials are used across a wider array of styles and options for growing kids, including jackets, pants, shirts, and sweaters. Prices range from $12.99 for basics to $69.99 for sets, but like the babies collection, don’t let the double-digit prices fool you. Everything in the Adorables line is of a much higher quality than standard H&M junior apparel and built to compete with designer labels.

H&M has a long and storied history of collaborating with the world’s most famous designers to offer a touch of exclusivity to the masses. According to Zoe Magazine, notable past H&M partnerships include Karl Lagerfeld, Roberto Cavalli, Jimmy Choo, and Versace.

In 2026, famed British designer Stella McCartney, who became one of the chain’s earliest designer collaborators 21 years earlier, returned for a follow-up line with H&M.

On Sept. 8, H&M announced a new collaboration with Beirut-based haute couture house Elie Saab, whose glamorous fall lineup, due out in October, will include Red Carpet-inspired menswear, womenswear, footwear, accessories, and formalwear, including embellished sequin gowns and other glamorous goodies typically reserved for Oscar after-parties.

Unlike the A-listers at the Academy Awards, H&M customers can expect to spend between $40 and $300 per item to shine at fall seasonal getogethers and holiday parties.
