Rachel Cruze Recommends These 6 Side Hustles To Earn $1K per Month

Once upon a time, working one full-time job was all you needed to lead a middle-class life. Times have brutally changed, though. For many, a side hustle is an integral part of how they make a living, with about 40-50% of Americans possessing at least one.
If you're new to the world of side gigs and curious about how to get one, you'll find no shortage of options. This is mostly a good thing, but of course, when you're inundated with paths, it can be difficult to choose the one worth pursuing. Financial expert Rachel Cruze posted a video on her YouTube channel in which she discussed six of the best creative side hustles that can provide you with an extra $1,000 a month.
1. Volleyball Official
The first side gig on Cruze's list is one you likely didn't have on yours. A volleyball official referees volleyball games and can make $800 to $1,000 a month by doing this a few times a week. According to ZipRecruiter, the average national hourly wage for this job is $21 an hour.

2. Part-Time Professor
This one you may need some advanced education for -- but it may not be necessary if you're enormously successful in your field. As Cruze highlighted, a part-time professor can easily make $1k a month, but it depends on a few factors, including demand and location. ZipRecruiter reported that the average pay for part-time professors in the U.S. is $38 per hour.
3. Grocery Store Worker
This one isn't terribly specific. One person shared with Cruze that they make between $8k and $12k a year working four-hour evening and weekend shifts at a grocery store. A grocery store clerk in the U.S. makes an average of $16 per hour, per ZipRecruiter.
4. Selling Propagated Plants
Here's a surprising one that you'll need to do some research on if you're interested in pursuing it, as some states impose strict regulations around selling plants. If legal, you could make a couple hundred bucks a week simply snipping off your starter plant stems and selling them to fellow green-thumbed enthusiasts. You can find some good tutorials on how to get started with this on YouTube or Quora.
5. Pool Cleaner
Savvy with swimming pools? Great. Put those smarts to work. These pros pull in an average of $17 per hour, according to ZipRecruiter.
6. Car Detailing
Some people settle for taking their car to the car wash. Some people require something more skilled and meticulous for their automobiles: car detailing, which is like a regular cat wash on steroids. If you're a car zealot and know how to make every aspect of an automobile safely sparkle, a side hustle in car detailing could be for you. You'll make an average of $16 per hour in the U.S. -- plus tips.
