Rideshare
The obvious answer for how to get some additional cash in your wallet is by driving for a rideshare program like Uber or Lyft. You get to determine when you work, plus get tips. Glassdoor found that on average, a rideshare driver can earn between $55,000 and $88,000 annually, depending on how many miles they log.
Package Delivery
You might not be the local post office delivery person, but that shouldn't stop you from making some special deliveries with your vehicle. Amazon Flex workers do just that: making deliveries outside of their normal day job. According to the Amazon Flex website, all you have to do is pick a time slot, drop off your packages and collect your pay, which can average between $18 and $25 an hour.
School Pickup and Drop-Off
Many parents need to get to work before school hours and need help getting their kids to class. They need someone they and their children can trust, according to Lynn Berger, author of the book, "The Savvy Part-Time Professional."
"If you know a few families you can organize a ride share to take their children to school," Berger said. "Each family would pay you so you could have multiple income streams. It would be steady work."
Pet Transport
It's not just people that need rides — animals do, too. If you are a fan of furry friends and don't mind a little shedding in your car, you can take pets to veterinarian appointments, groomers, boarding places and occasionally out of state for breeders and rescue orgs.
Depending on where you live and how far you are driving, ZipRecruiter found that the average pet transporter can make about $41,900 annually (roughly $20 per hour).
Mobile Mechanic
Do you like not just driving cars, but working on them as well? You can make a little over $50 per hour, based on Indeed's calculations, if you drive to customers who need a quick fix or repair job on their vehicle. You get to spend time not only in your car, but under the hood as well.
