We didn’t budget for this level of cuteness.

In this episode of Ridiculous Lessons in Money, three ordinary contestants are put to the ultimate test: can they become budgeting bosses while being distracted by darling little doggos to win a cash prize? (We doubt it.)

Dogs may be man’s best friend, but balancing a budget is man’s… second best friend.

This week on Ridiculous Lessons in Money, the “fintertainment” show where everyday people attempt to learn about money while simultaneously doing extreme challenges, our host Jeff Capanelli, & guest expert Maria Spends (@mariaspends, 18.3k followers on TikTok) give our contestants the scoop on best budget practices. But can they remember their lesson when the classroom becomes a puppy paradise? It’s a battle of cash vs. cuddles!

Who are this week’s contestants? Meet (from left to right)…

Dorothy: Streamer. Model. Zookeeper.

Chris: “Fundraiser for nonprofits,” he said heroically.

Jeff: Host by day, puppy thief by night.

Bianca: Barista extraordinare.

Think you can remember more finance facts than these guys? During the pop quiz, pause the vid & see how your answers stack up! Ready to watch and play along?

This episode covers the following topics:

  • What percentage of American households track their monthly income expenses with a detailed budget?

  • What is gross income?

  • What category is typically the easiest to reduce when you want to cut your spending?

  • What type of expense includes items like gas, groceries, & medical care?

  • What does the “A” in “smart goals” stand for?

  • What percentage of Americans have no clue how much money they spent last month?

  • Why is it important to track budgeting progress & celebrate milestones?

How many answers were you able to get correct?
