3 Bucket List Vacations Gen Z Should Splurge On in 2026

Everyone has a bucket-list vacation spot they daydream about — a place worth dipping into savings for, if only life would cooperate long enough to make it happen. Gen Z is no exception.
Recently, MoneyLion reached out to travel experts to find the best possible Gen Z-centric vacation locations worthy of bucket list status. The overall consensus? Trips that prioritize experience over exoticism or expense.

With that in mind, here are a few bucket-list experiences worth considering for Gen Z.
Spur-of-the-Moment Road Trips
For a generation raised on algorithmically curated feeds and influencer itineraries, the antidote might be a trip with zero itinerary and zero Instagram pressure.
“Spontaneous road trips. No maps, no definite itinerary and no obligations to see all the sights,” suggested Echo Wang, travel blogger and founder of Cool Travel Vibes. “Just hop into the car and see where the day takes you. This is exactly what Generation Z should be splurging on in 2026.”
Wang added that while such a trip may not seem impressive on paper, it remains a genuine experience.
“You discover little towns that are nowhere on your map, silly roadside attractions that turn out to be amazing and locations no one would ever think about looking up," Wang said. "It is hard to explain how liberating it is to go with the flow rather than having all your moves mapped out in a modern world. But once you begin traveling that way, you realize you can notice things once more — the empty roads, the places in between, the local hotspots that will never make it to social media."
Exotic Locales Like Thailand
“If I had to pick one bucket-list destination that I think is absolutely worth the splurge for Gen Z travelers in 2026, I’d probably say Thailand,” said André Ribeiro, founder of international travel website Andre On Digital.
"Gen Z travelers care much more about experiences than traditional luxury, and Thailand offers a mix that’s very hard to find anywhere else. You can have incredible food, beautiful beaches, nightlife, cultural experiences, island hopping, wellness retreats and unforgettable social experiences all in the same trip without needing an extreme luxury budget.”
In addition to being a frequent “dream destination” for many travelers, Ribeiro also noted that Thailand remains a rather affordable bucket-list travel spot as well.
A Latin American Adventure
Casey Halloran, CEO and co-founder of Costa Rican Vacations, told MoneyLion that Gen Z travelers “gravitate toward destinations that are experiential, social and authentic.” To that end, he suggested a number of Latin destinations worthy of any Gen Z bucket list:
Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica: “Puerto Viejo is rich in Afro-Caribe culture, unpolished laid back vibes and outstanding local dining. Jungle next to white sand beaches, bicycles slowly cruising about town, music, surf and a high level of eco-consciousness make this a good fit for Gen Z.”
Antigua, Guatemala: “History, walkability, volcano, amazing architecture — ideal visual material for Instagram.”
Medellin, Colombia: “Great weather, nightlife, affordable, increasingly interesting dining and fashion scenes.”
San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua: “Surf-focused, very budget friendly and oriented toward younger travelers.”
Echoing Ribeiro’s sentiments, Halloran stated that Gen Z, more than any other demographic he’s observed, craves “memorable, story-driven experiences. They want experiences that are personal, emotional and authentic,” all of which can be found in Latin America’s varied cultural and physical landscapes.
