3 In-Demand Fields That Pay Above $100K

Is it time for a career change? While the economy remains shaky and everyone is worried about their job stability, there are actually a fair amount of roles in the workforce which are both highly sought after and pay well. Like, over $100,000 annually well.

MoneyLion reached out to Lacey Kaelani, CEO of Metaintro, to find out what some of these in-demand jobs with six figure salaries are. Here's which careers she pointed to.

  • Average median salary: $133,080

Kaelani highlighted that the national median salary for a software developer in the United States is an average value which hides two trends: The continued rapid increase of an AI native company's hiring versus the slow, steady decline of traditional software companies' hiring.

“[This means] the demand for all work related to AI and machine-learning is at the highest level, as opposed to all of the other jobs related to generalist web development,” Kaelani explained. “While having a computer science degree can be helpful, having a strong portfolio will be more beneficial. Therefore, the trend seems to be to specialize in developing AI tools or platforms.”

  • Average median salary: $129,210

According to Kaelani, the salary a nurse practitioner (NP) earns in America shows it is a job with longevity and stability.

“Traditional healthcare occupations have produced the most job growth within the past two years," Kaelani said. "They typically take longer than most fields to fill due to the long duration of vacancies."

“Becoming an NP requires multiple years of education (master's degree) and national credentials, meaning that it cannot be achieved as quickly as other career transitions,” Kaelani continued. “If you are already a registered nurse, the highest-level position you will have access to is NP.”

  • Average median salary: $124,910

“The demand for talent has been outpacing the supply of individuals qualified for these positions by four times over the past five years, which suggests that this is a realistic avenue for individuals looking to enter into a six-figure career path,” Kaelani said.

In Kaelani’s professional opinion, employers place a greater emphasis on experience and certification than they do on obtaining a degree.

“Obtaining a certification such as Security+ or CISSP, while creating real-world projects in conjunction with that credential, are both excellent ways to establish yourself as a qualified applicant for employment in the field of cybersecurity,” Kaelani added.
