13 Longest-Lasting EVs and Hybrids of 2026

It can feel like quite an accomplishment reaching 250,000 miles on a vehicle. According to some of the latest data from iSeeCars, reaching that milestone is still not typical.

Trucks may be known for their durability and capacity to reach great numbers of miles, but don’t count out other vehicle types.

Chris Pyle, an auto expert and mechanic on JustAnswer, noted some of the models he’s seen with some “pretty high average miles” include the Prius, Camry and Highlander.

“When thinking about longevity, I'd look beyond simply how long a vehicle remains on the road to whether it continues to meet an owner's needs over time,” said Rebecca Lindland, global head of automotive advisory at HarrisX. “For EVs, that includes battery health, usable range, charging capability, software support and access to service.”

Lindland added that conventional hybrids benefit from decades of development and refinement without requiring external charging. For either, she’d also consider the technology's maturity, warranty coverage and service network.

“It’s no surprise that the longest-lasting EVs and hybrids are Toyotas and their luxury brand, Lexus,” said Melanie Musson, an auto industry expert with AutoInsurance.org. “These same makes dominate the overall list of longest-lasting vehicles. The manufacturers are known for building simple, finely tuned vehicles that require minimal maintenance and last for many years.”
