6 Luxury SUVs With the Best Resale Value

Most people spending $70,000 or more on a luxury SUV focus on horsepower and leather seats — not what the vehicle will be worth in five years.
That’s according to Andrew Lokenauth, founder of the blog Fluent in Finance, who said overlooking resale value can be a costly mistake.

“When it comes to luxury SUVs with the best resale value, Lexus leads the pack,” he said. “The pricing premium on used Lexus models reflects the demand in the market. Lexus and Porsche consistently win here. Everyone else is playing catch-up.”
Here’s a look at some luxury SUVs to consider if you want strong resale value to help keep your overall costs in check.
Lexus RX
Several Lexus models appear on this expert-backed list, which aligns with rankings from sources such as Kelley Blue Book that consistently place Lexus among the top luxury brands for value retention.
“The RX, especially the lower-to-mid trim levels, often depreciates by less than 40% over the first five years of ownership,” said Melanie Musson, an auto industry expert with AutoInsurance. “A five-year-old RX 350 with AWD that has 50,000 miles could sell for $35,000.”
Lexus LX
Although many trims start above $100,000, the LX can retain more than half its value after five years, according to Musson.
“That’s better than average depreciation and far better than the typical luxury car,” she said. “If you have a five-year-old model with 50,000 miles, you may be able to price it around $70,000, depending on the trim level and options.”
Mercedes-Benz G-Class
“Even after five years, many G-Class vehicles are selling for more than $100,000,” Musson said. “The G-Class retains its value and offers surprising reliability compared to other Mercedes-Benz vehicles known for issues.”
Lokenauth added, “The Mercedes-Benz G-Class holds about 65% of its value after five years. Used G-Wagons sometimes sell for more than new ones because dealers can’t keep them in stock.”
Acura RDX
Chris Pyle, an auto expert and mechanic with JustAnswer, also highlighted the Acura RDX as a strong performer in resale value. While noting that many factors influence resale pricing, he said he often sees trade-in RDX models selling in the $30,000 to $36,000 range.
Lincoln Aviator
Pyle also pointed to the Lincoln Aviator as a solid option for resale value, noting that it holds its value relatively well compared to some competitors. However, timing can matter when buying or selling.
“I would say the best times to buy and sell a used luxury SUV would be around the beginning of spring and late fall,” he said. “I see many of these piling up on lots during the summer months, likely due to summer travel and the start of the next school year.”
Porsche Macan
Another standout in the luxury category is the Porsche Macan, which CarBuzz lists among the models with strong resale value for 2026. The Macan’s average resale value after five years is about $41,000, making it one of Porsche’s most consistently strong-performing models.
