Fort Worth, Texas
Fort Worth is a great city to buy a home in Fall 2026. For one, the average home value has decreased by 1.8% over the past year and remains just under $300,000, per Zillow. Additionally, 53.3% of sales close under list price, meaning you don’t have to put in offers over ask. Average home prices vary by neighborhood. For example, the median home price in Crestwood is around $725,000, while Marine Park is $165,000.
“The region continues to rank among the fastest growing in the country, so economic indicators are healthy, yet real estate prices are holding steady overall,” said Shawn Buck, president of Greater Fort Worth Association of Realtors. “Additionally, you will get more square footage for your money and land if you want it. Depending on what you are looking for, you’ll find a wide range of prices.”
Indianapolis, Indiana
Indianapolis is an affordable housing market that has cooled off over the past year. According to Zillow, the average house price is just over $230,020, down 0.8% from one year ago. Additionally, the for-sale inventory remains high, with 4,062 homes available as of August 31, 2026. If you’re looking for a city with endless offerings and affordable housing, check out Indianapolis.
“Indianapolis is at the top of the list of cities that buyers want, because the housing prices there are considerably less than in the rest of the US,” said Thomas O'Shaughnessy, vice president of Clever Real Estate. “Not only are home values low, but buyers can also begin to purchase homes for cheaper than in previous months, without having to participate in a bidding war.”
Macon, Georgia
Macon is filled with Southern charm and affordability, with the average house price remaining under $175,000, even with a 2.8% increase over the past year, per Zillow. Housing inventory was trending around 900 as of August 31, 2026. Even though the market is competitive, 61.1% of sales are closing under the list price.
“We’re seeing buyers attracted to Central Georgia because their money goes much further than in many cities and smaller cities across the country,” said Daniel Amodeo, president of Amo Realty. “Prices in Atlanta have skyrocketed in the past years and Macon is only about an hour and a half south of Atlanta. We even see people selling homes in Florida and relocating to the Macon area, where they can even purchase a home for cash and still have substantial money left over.”
Parkland, Florida
Parkland is a desirable location because of its quiet, suburban lifestyle. According to Zillow, the average home price is $1,074,684, which has remained steady over the past year. However, 80.2% of homes sell under the list price. With limited inventory, snagging a home in Parkland might be difficult. Nevertheless, it’s a top city to call home this fall.
“We live and work in this market and we continue to see people drawn to it for the schools, the communities, the parks and the fact that you can still get a little more space,” said Leah Sajovits, Realtor with Douglas Elliman Real Estate. It has a suburban feel without being too far removed from Boca Raton or Fort Lauderdale. It has also been rated as one of the top cities in South Florida.
