The brass at Walmart and its subsidiary Sam’s Club are responding to their customers’ inflationary pain with seasonal discounts that promise to make summer fun affordable once again — but the lower prices won’t last forever.
On July 6 — just two days after sticker shock diminished the festivities for millions of barbecue, picnic and party hosts on the country’s 250th anniversary — the world’s largest retailer and the wholesale membership club it owns jointly announced discounts on thousands of seasonal favorites.
It’s unclear when the following Walmart and Sam’s Club markdowns — and many others like them — will return to regular price, but these red-hot deals are still ripe for the taking, so act fast.
Walmart
Walmart highlights reduced prices on the following summer favorites, but these are only a handful among thousands of newly added Rollbacks.
Fresh 1-pound 73% ground beef roll: $5.94, down from $6.74
Fresh sweet corn on the cob: 25 cents each, down from 68 cents
Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Dr. Pepper and Diet Mountain Dew (24-packs): $9.97, down from $13.97
Coca-Cola, Diet Coke and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar (24-packs): $9.97, down from $14.97
Lay's Classic potato chips (8-ounce bag): $2.50, down from $2.97

Sam’s Club is promoting the following new discounts, but its executives stressed that the wholesale chain is also mitigating summer price pain by offering its members competitive gas prices at its pumps.
