The most expensive item at Trader Joe’s this month is tied between two products. A bottle of Henri Laffard grand reserve brut champagne and a pound of premium angus beef tenderloin steak tips. Each one of these two products retail for $25.99.

The second most expensive item at Trader Joe’s this month is — another tie?! Florals face off against dairy with the premium jumbo orchid and one pound of Le Gruyère. You’ll pay $19.99 apiece and each product boasts many good reasons why it’s worth the money. The orchid takes more than two years to grow and comes in a ceramic planter. And the Le Gruyère has been cave aged to produce the finest possible melting cheese. Decisions, decisions.

Alcohol, including wine and champagne, has historically been one of the priciest departments to shop at Trader Joe’s.

An article from Beverage Trade Network cited a bottle of Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame, then $131.99 a bottle, as the most expensive champagne you could buy from TJ in 2016.

In a 2021 Reddit thread on the most expensive items you’ve ever purchased at Trader Joe’s, one Redditor said they paid $60 for a bottle of Stags' Leap Winery cabernet sauvignon. Cuts of meat also received mentions throughout the same thread including tomahawk steaks priced around $60 circa 2019.

Lifestyle products were among some of the most unusual to be brought up as TJ’s most expensive on Reddit. Some items even cost more than our first place items.

An olive wood cutting board was mentioned at least four times throughout the thread. The total paid for the board varied from $25 to $40. All Redditors were unanimous, however, it was a great purchase and cost a lot less than shopping somewhere else.

Other lifestyle items worth noting include a set of olive bowls ($30 and available during the winter holidays), a linen apron ($24) and a beauty advent calendar ($20).
