Union Pacific Corporation is a railroad operating company in the United States. The Company operates through its principal operating company, Union Pacific Railroad Company (UPRR). The Company connects approximately 23 states in the western two-thirds of the country by rail and maintains coordinated schedules with other rail carriers for the handling of freight to and from the Atlantic Coast, the Pacific Coast, the Southeast, the Southwest, Canada and Mexico. The Company's Railroad’s diversified business mix includes Bulk, Industrial, and Premium. It transports hazardous materials and other materials, including crude oil, ethanol, and toxic inhalation hazard (TIH) materials, such as chlorine, that pose risks in the event of a release or combustion.
